2020 presented an environment much different than its been for the 40 previous years. For more than four decades, the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner (RJTD) has been serving senior citizens, underprivileged families and individuals experiencing homelessness on Thanksgiving Day in San Antonio. In 2020, the Dinner and its planning committee remained committed to the founding mission of serving thousands during the Thanksgiving season, just differently, given the pandemic. The organization pivoted to a method of meal distribution with a strategy that includes homebound meal delivery, in collaboration with Meals on Wheels, and partnerships with other local nonprofits.
